Cadillac Stolen on Park Avenue West: Cops

The following information was submitted by the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION

Alexander Peters, 19, Deerfield was arrested at 11:45 p.m. on January 15 and charged with violation of an order of protection after police responded to a complaint in the 1700 block of Sherwood Road. Peters was transported to bond court.

ATTEMPTED POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Edward Herz, 18, of the 700 block of Thackeray Drive was arrested at 3:31 p.m. on January 16 and charged with attempt possession of a controlled substance after concluding an investigation that began in November, 2014. Herz posted a cash bond and was released.

ASSAULT

Hongxing Liu, 58, of the 600 block of Sumac Road was arrested at 9:52 p.m. on January 17 and charged with assault after police responded to an employer/employee dispute in the 600 block of Elm Place. Liu was released on a personal recognizance bond.

RETAIL THEFT

A tan suede jacket was reported stolen on January 11 between noon and 3 p.m. from a business in the 600 block of Central Avenue.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

It was reported at 12:13 p.m. on January 15 that unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle while parked in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road and removed an I-phone 5S.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

It was reported at 12:47 p.m. on January 15 that unknown subject(s) forced entry to a condo in the 2000 block of St. Johns Avenue between 8:20 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. ransacked the residence and stole three pieces of jewelry.

ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

It was reported at 6:21 p.m. on January 15 that unknown subject(s) attempted to gain entry to a residence in the 2000 block of Old Briar Road between 10:15 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. by prying a sliding glass door. Entry was not gained but the door was damaged.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A 2007 Cadillac CTS was stolen by an unknown subject(s) sometime between January 10 and 13 from a parking lot in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West.

THEFT

It was reported at 2:21 p.m. on January 16 that sometime between 1-4 p.m. on January 12, cash was taken from an unattended, unlocked desk drawer in the 500 block of Onwentsia Avenue.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

It was reported at 7:54 p.m. on January 17 that unknown subject(s) smashed a passenger side window of a 2013 Honda Accord while parked in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road sometime between 6:30-7:30 p.m. A radar detector was taken.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO MOTOR VEHICLE

It was reported at 2:53 a.m. on January 18 that unknown subject(s) damaged 3-4 vehicles by breaking off the windshield wipers while parked in the 1500 block of McCraren Road.
