HIGHLAND PARK, Ill., Nov. 2, 2026 — Sanctuary Sounds: Masterworks for the Spirit will present "Holiday Cheer," the second concert of its 2026-2027 season, on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. at Highland Park Presbyterian Church (HPPC), 330 Laurel Ave. The concert is free and open to the public.
Conductor Susan Merdinger will lead the Sheridan Solisti Chamber Orchestra and the HPPC Choir in a festive program featuring works by Handel, Leroy Anderson, Ilya Levinson, Tchaikovsky and more. Soprano Elizabeth Strickland and mezzo-soprano Suzanne Aaron will appear as vocal soloists, and Steven Greene will perform on the church's magnificent pipe organ.
"Holiday Cheer brings together voices, orchestra and the magnificent sound of the pipe organ for an afternoon of music the whole community can share," said Merdinger. "We hope our neighbors will come for the rummage sale, stay for the concert and leave with the spirit of the season."
The concert will be preceded by the Annual HPPC Holiday Rummage Sale and Bake Sale, held at the church that day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., giving visitors the chance to shop for bargains and homemade treats before the music begins.
