Caretakers Accused of Bilking Elderly Couple Out of at Least $184K
Couple's adult children discovered their parents had been defrauded after a review of financial records.

Two live-in caretakers of an Highland Park couple are accused of separately bilking at least $184,000 out of an elderly man and woman as far back as 2011, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Both caretakers were arrested Nov. 11. Laticia Lewis, 40, of the 0-100 block of Oxford Drive, Carpentersville, was charged with financial exploitation of the elderly and theft. Justina Kemokai, 32, of the 6400 block of South Stony Island Avenue, Chicago, was charged with financial exploitation of the elderly, theft, fraud and forgery. The caretakers allegedly used unauthorized ATM withdrawals, double billing for services and phony credit card transactions to defraud the couple, the report stated. The sham activity wasn’t discovered until the couple’s adult children reviewed their parents’ financial records, the report added.
