Chiropractor Avoids Prison Time for Sexually Abusing Patient
Kevin Dutton, who practiced in Highland Park, will be in a work release program and have to register as a sex offender.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - A former Highland Park chiropractor will avoid prison time despite pleading guilty to charges he sexually abused a female patient at his office nearly two years ago.
Kevin Dutton, 39, Chicago was sentenced Thursday to 18 months of work release imprisonment and three years of probation by Judge Daniel Shanes, according to the Lake County News-Sun. He earlier pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse and had other charges dropped.
He will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and has already lost his chiropractic license.

Dutton was only forced to plead guilty to one alleged incident of sexual misconduct, even though other women came forward after the initial report was made. Those women described inappropriate behavior such as inner thigh massages that would include touching of the crotch.
“What you did in this case was terrible,” Shanes said. “It was a violation of the sacred trust a person places in a health care provider when that person puts their health, safety and literally their body in that person’s hands. Violating this trust harms the patient and the profession.”

Prosecutors recommended prison time for Dutton, but Shanes noted the probationary sentence would cover more time and allow Dutton to be treated.
