College Bound Opportunities Raises $115,000 at 5th Annual Tees for Degrees Golf Outing

On Monday, August 7, 2017, College Bound Opportunities (CBO) hosted its 5th Annual Tees for Degrees Golf Outing at the Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove, Illinois. Presented by Victory Park Capital and Giordano’s, this sold-out event raised $115,000 to support CBO’s mission to engage and assist under-served students in fulfilling their college dream.

"We are so thankful to the 45 sponsors and 124 golfers who joined us on Monday to support CBO’s amazing Scholars,” said Eddie Leshin, Chair of the outing and a CBO mentor. “The entire day was outstanding from the weather to the contests on the course and, especially, our student caddies who got to meet all the guests. It was a great day for a great cause!”

Golfers participated in several Par 3 challenges on the course with two guests winning brand new golf clubs and one guest winning a trip to the 2018 Masters. Guests also enjoyed food and drinks provided by Marcello’s North and Constellation Brands. The outing was also sponsored by Consilio, First Bank of Highland Park, AFN, Consolidated Electronic Wire & Cable, DiVinci Painters, Elite Staffing, Hollis Cobb, Mazzetta Company, LLC, MEDIQUS Asset Advisors, Inc., Much Shelist, and Vivaldi Capital Management.

Daniel Arias, a CBO Scholar and rising sophomore at the University of Illinois, caddied at the event and shared some of his story with guests. "CBO has given me the necessary skills to get into college and succeed there. CBO prepared me for the Chick Evans scholarship application and interview. Without their help, I wouldn't have been granted a full tuition scholarship to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This blessing was a culmination of all the hard work and sacrificing that my parents have done with the goal of improving our family’s way of life. I know there are still challenges ahead of me, but I know with CBO on my side I’ll come out on top."
