Cops Find Lots of Pot at Ravinia Festival

Nearly 30 visitors cited by Highland Park police during Friday's festivities, which included an amazing light show.

Twenty nine people, none of which are residents of Highland Park, were cited administratively for cannabis and underage alcohol possession by police at Ravinia Festival Friday.

According to a police report, the 29 were charged with at least one of the following: possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis and underage possession of alcohol.

Of the 29, three are from the City of Chicago, two from Evanston, two from Grayslake and one each from Cary, Algonquin, Madison, WI, Buffalo Grove, Milwaukee, Janesville, WI, Port Washington, W, Hanover Park, LaGrange, McFarland, WI, Homer Glen, Wheeling, Northbrook, Westville, IN, Glen Ellyn, Palos Park, Glenview, Countryside, Willow Springs, Lindenwood, Hoffman Estates and Highwood.

According to Facebook posts from both the Ravinia Festival official account and that of the band, Umphrey’s McGee performed the night of August 14.

Ravinia Festival posted at 9:12 p.m. on August 14, “Another fantastic night rockin’ out with Umphrey’s McGee!,” with several accompanied photos of an impressive light show.

The next morning, Umphrey’s McGee posted “Amazing evening at Ravinia Festival....thanks to the Chicago Mass Choir who blew everyone away (especially us).”
