Coroner Releases Name of Shooter at Highland Park Hospital
Christopher M. Anderson, 27, was shot by police after drawing gun at Highland Park Hospital, Monday, police say.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office released the name this afternoon of the 27-year-old Waukegan resident who was shot by the police at the Highland Park Hospital on Monday as Christopher M. Anderson.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, Illinois State Police responded to an accident on Illinois Route 94 near Lake Cook Road and arrested the driver for driving under the influence.

Anderson, who was a passenger and was not arrested, was transported to Highland Park Hospital along with a third passenger, who is a minor.
Anderson was aggressive with hospital staff which prompted staff to request assistance from the Highland Park Police Department at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

Police officers and hospital staff attempted to calm Anderson in a hospital room. Anderson drew a handgun, placed the hospital staff and officers in immediate danger and after repeated efforts to get Anderson to drop his weapon, officers fired.
Anderson was shot and succumbed to his wounds. No other injuries were reported.
The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) continues to investigate. Further information will be provided upon conclusion of the investigation.
