Driver Charged In Truck Vs. Pole Crash: Highland Park Crimes

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Oct. 31, at some point between between 8:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., someone shattered a passenger side window of a Jeep while it was parked in the 700 block of Central Avenue. However, there was no apparent entry and nothing was reported stolen from inside.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Someone got into an office in a building in the 400 block of Central Avenue sometime between Oct. 28 at 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. and stole cigarettes and currency. They may have entered through an unlocked window, police said.
THEFT
Sometime between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9 a gold wedding band and gold watch were reportedly stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Richfield Avenue, police were told on Nov. 1.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 24-year-old Waukegan man was arrested and charged with driving an uninsured vehicle without a valid drivers license after police pulled him over near Ridge Road and Keats Lane shortly before 12:41 p.m. on Oct. 30. He was also issued a ticket for turning improperly.
A 48-year-old Highland Park man was arrested and charged with driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended license on Oct. 31 at 9:19 p.m. after police were called to a reported car crash near the intersection of Half Day Road and Summit Avenue.
A 40-year-old North Chicago man was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license after police responded to a car crash near Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road around 5 p.m. on Nov. 1.
Melissa Parsons, 44, of the 1500 block of Lawrence Road, Hillsborough, North Carolina was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on Nov. 2 at 4:36 a.m. She was stopped by police in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road for speeding and also found to be driving on a suspended license, police said.
A 46-year-old Evanston man was arrested after police were called to a report of a suspicious person asleep in a vehicle in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence and possession of cannabis.
Noah Quigley, 20, of the 1400 block of Hervey Avenue, North Chicago was arrested on Nov. 3 at 1:43 p.m. and charged with domestic battery after police were called to a dispute in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road.
Ramiro Martinez, 20, of the 800 block of Deerfield Road, was arrested and charged with hit and run, driving without a valid license and driving and uninsured motor vehicle on Nov. 3 at 6:13 p.m. after police responded to a car crash near Park Avenue West and Midlothian Avenue.
Deboyce McGee, 23, of the 10500 block of South Yates, Chicago was arrested Nov. 4 at 3:10 a.m. and charged with retail theft after hiding a bottle of alcohol at the Walgreens in the 600 block of Elm Place and trying to leave without paying for it.
Jordan Gantar, 38, of the 33600 block of North Greentree Road, Grayslake, was arrested Nov. 4 at 5:13 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence after he was pulled over by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road and determined to be intoxicated. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Elizabeth Schwaneke, 35, of the 1100 block of Williams Avenue, Deerfield, was arrested Nov. 5 at 7:16 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence after police found a pickup truck had struck a utility pole in a one-car crash near Edgecliffe Drive and Sheridan Road.
