HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

CHECK FRAUD
On the afternoon of April 5, a resident in the 3200 block of Summit Avenue reported that someone had made an unauthorized deposit of a check that had been mailed on March 21. It was not known whether the check was taken from the home's mailbox or elsewhere.

HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke in to a home in the 700 block of St. Johns Avenue through a rear glass door at some point prior to 5 a.m. April 8, stealing jewelry and electronic devices from inside for an unspecified loss.

PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package that had been delivered by the Postal Service around 3:30 pm. on March 21 to an apartment building in the 200 block of Leonard Wood North, police were told on April 8.

GARAGE BURGLARY
At some point between March 5 and March 13, someone stole stainless flatware that had been kept on a shelf in a possibly unlocked garage in the 600 block of Calais Drive, police were told on April 8.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Robert P. Joor, 55, of the 600 block of Hyacinth Lane, Highland Park, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on April 6 and charged with aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Benjamin Mazon Jr., 24, of the 2500 block of Dora Street, Franklin Park, was arrested around 5 a.m. on April 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

Nadine H. Siegel, 61, of the 300 block of Dundee Road, Wheeling, was arrested around 1:45 p.m. on April 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI-alcohol with a BAC of 0.08 or greater following a traffic crash at Skokie Valley Road near Park Avenue West. She was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash after police reported she rear-ended another car while she was intoxicated.
