I love Highland Park and it is an exciting time to live here. The birds are starting to chirp and the sun has started to peek out. The first hints of spring also bring the joy of seeing friends and neighbors out in our community. We’ve been inside for the winter, and while the season is not quite over yet, we’re all starting to wake up.

The April 4, 2017 election is an important one, and I’m excited to come together to elect the candidates who will best serve our community. I’ve done my research, and I strongly endorse Davis Schneiderman for the open two-year seat on the Highland Park City Council.

I love that Davis shares his independent voice openly with residents while listening to their interests and concerns. He has worked hard on critical issues important to Highland Park, while always working together with others. He is committed to cooperation and collaboration.

Davis cares about community, walkability, and business development, and these issues matter greatly to my neighbors and I. When Davis helped lead the “No” campaign on the NSSD112 referendum, he maintained a public commitment to community values that resonated with the voters. He is committed to positive change and working with others, and immediately accepted NSSD112’s invitation to serve as a leader on the 2.0 Reconfiguration committee, after the referendum, to help solve the problem.

Davis’ experience as an educator and higher-education administrator is directly transferable to city council. He has experience with budgeting and strategic planning, and he had a proven track record of problem-solving and building consensus among those with a diversity of opinions.

I’m excited for spring. I’m excited for change. I’m excited to support Davis Schneiderman for Highland Park City Council, and hope you will join me in voting for him.
