Chicago Symphony Orchestra Over the Rainbow – A Tribute to Harold Arlen

During her legendary 1961 concert at Carnegie Hall, Judy Garland acknowledged songwriter Harold Arlen in the audience, saying, “We do practically all his music all through the show; there’s none better”—and she was hardly exaggerating. Arlen is not only the pop genius behind such Garland classics as “Over the Rainbow,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “Get Happy” and “The Man That Got Away,” but countless other immortal tunes including “That Old Black Magic,” “Stormy Weather,” “One for My Baby (and One for the Road)”, “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “Blues in the Night” and others too numerous to mention. They really don’t write them like that anymore.
