Fashion Plate: Jody Berns Solo Show
Art Exhibit: A compilation of mother's and daughter's art created in the 1940s and the present

(Highland Park, IL November 19, 2016) – Tucked away in a small café in Highland Park, is a story to be told. Jody Berns tells that story through her photographic art. She is finding a way to collaborate with her mother, Maxine Cobert, a successful mid-century artist from Evanston, even as her mother has passed away several years ago. Her digital images combine Berns’ photographs with Cobert’s fashion illustrations from the 1940s and 1950s creating a mysterious and sometimes humorous world of past and present.
As a young child, Berns worked side-by-side with her mother in the studio. She was thrilled to be part of her world. Life changed for Berns. Eventually, she left the art world for a career in technology. Her current work is her journey back and forward, to the place where, once again, she works side-by-side with her mother.
Her work is on display at Arriva Dolce Café, 1823 Saint Johns Avenue, Highland Park IL from November 18, 2016 until December 31, 2016. You can meet the artist at the opening on December 2nd from 4:30pm-6:30pm, or at the artist’s talk on December 20th from 3:00pm-4:00pm.
