HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION OF HIGHLAND PARK ANNOUNCES 2015 GRANTS

Grants totally $6,250,950 were awarded to more than 50 charitable organizations in the area served by Highland Park Hospital.

The Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park has awarded $6,250,950 in grants to more than 50 organizations in the geographic area served by Highland Park Hospital. The funds will allow for many important programs to improve the health and well being of the unserved and underserved in the community throughout the coming year. Established in 2000, The Healthcare Foundation, a non-profit organization, has given in excess of 80 million dollars to countless organizations on the North Shore, impacting, without question, the health of the indigent.

The Healthcare Foundation is run by a board of 11 volunteer trustees that accepts grant applications yearly, reviews them and then makes decisions on the allocation of funds. Each year, $4 million is given to Highland Park Hospital to offset the costs of uncompensated care and other clinical programs at the hospital. Additional grants, totaling millions of dollars, are made to many smaller community based charitable organizations that provide services ranging from care for at risk pregnant mothers, to adaptive sports programs for individuals who are physically or visually impaired, to providing food and nutrition education, to cancer wellness support for families, and more, all aimed at improving quality of life.

“Our Board of Trustees works throughout the year following up on the programs we sponsor while always looking for other groups that are in need of support,” stated Jim Styer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Each of is proud to be part of an organization that provides funding for vital services that include health screenings and medical care, services for Seniors and their caregivers, help for individuals with autism, counseling for victims of sexual abuse, end of life care, and many others.”
