Highland Park Bans Coal Tar Products
City Council votes to prohibit the sale and use of the products containing a carcinogen.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - The city of Highland Park has passed a motion to enact a ban on coal tar products.
The City Council decided on Monday to ban both the sale and the use of the products, according to a Daily North Shore report.
Reasons for banning the products include that they are known to contain carcinogens like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which can cause cancer and birth defects in aquatic life.
