An initial investigation determined Pasquale Fontanini likely heard a CO alarm, “found the family car with keyless ignition running in the attached garage and opened the overhead garage door to release the carbon monoxide,” according to the News report.
Autopsies on the victims are pending completion by the Lake County coroner. Lake County and Highland Park authorities continue to investigate.
