Highland Park Crime: Burglar Kicks In Door But Steals Nothing, Shoplifting With Weed, Slashed Tires

Highland Park police report: March 27 - April 3

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of police activity. An arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are merely accusations which are often dropped or reduced. All defendants are innocent until their guilt is establied by a court.

RECKLESS CONDUCT

Damita R. Fitzpatrick, 43, of the 2400 block of Hermon Avenue, Zion was arrested and charged with reckless conduct after police responded to a traffic accident near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Chantilly Boulevard at 5:20 p.m. on March 27.

AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Juan Abraham Diaz-Ramirez, 50, of the 700 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving while license suspended and improper lane use after police responded to a traffic accident near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West at 12:22 a.m. on March 28.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Sharon Kay Armstrong, 66, of the 4800 block of 5th Avenue, Kenosha, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, disobeying a traffic control device and possession of cannabis after police responded to a traffic accident near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road at 9:20 p.m. on March 28.

William D. Markoutsas, 41, of the 3100 block of Applewood Court, Highland Park was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a driving complaint in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road shortly before 7 p.m. on March 29.

Carlos Juan Roman, 31, of the 5000 block of West Ogden Avenue, Cicero was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage and possession of cannabis after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Skokie Valley Road at 2:14 a.m. on April 1.

OBSTRUCTING A PEACE OFFICER

Ruby A. Gidron, 36, of the 3000 block of Marshall Road, Highland Park was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer, speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Vine Avenue at 10:25 p.m. on April 1.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Ramiro C. Rodriguez, 22, of the 0-100 block North Lake Street, Grayslake was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding 26 – 34 mph over the limit after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Half Day Road at 1:25 a.m. on April 3.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On March 27 it was reported that an unknown subject(s) slashed three tires of a parked vehicle outside a residence in the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue between 9:30 p.m. on March 26 and 5:30 a.m. on March 27.

RETAIL THEFT

On March 28, shortly after 5:30 p.m., it was reported that a woman tried to steal merchandise from a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road. The female subject was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT

On March 29 it was reported that an someone kicked open a secured rear door of a residence located in the 1200 block of St. Johns Avenue on March 29th at approximately 5:30 a.m.. No items were taken from the residence.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On April 1 it was reported that someone stole various items from an unsecured vehicle that was parked in a driveway of a residence located in the 200 block of Ravine Drive. The incident took place between 7:00 p.m. on March 31 and 1:40 p.m. on April 1st.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On April 2 it was reported that someone damaged a parked vehicle in the 2800 block of Patten Road with graffiti. The graffiti was removed from the vehicle and there is no timeframe to when the incident occurred.
