Highland Park Crime: Cops Tase Unwanted Late Night Door Knocker
Highland Park police reports: March 6-March 13

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of police activity. An arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges are often dropped or reduced. All defendants are presumed innocent until their guilt is established by a court.
UNWANTED LATE NIGHT KNOCKERS
Twice last weekend, Highland Park police received calls from residents about unwanted men banging on their front doors.

First, around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning March 12, a resident of the 500 block of Chicago Avenue called to say someone they did not know was banging on the front door and trying to get in.
When police arrived, they found Oscar O. Gomez, 24, of the 1900 block of South Racine Avenue in Chicago, apparently intoxicated and at the wrong house.

Police on the scene said he refused to follow verbal orders, "became physically aggressive and was subsequently tased," according to Highland Park Deputy Police Chief Timothy Wolinsky.
Gomez was arrested and charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest of a peace officer, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Just under 24 hours later, around 4:00 a.m. on March 13, police again received a call for the unwanted late night presence of a man at a front door. This time, though, it was not an unknown, seemingly intoxicated Chicago man.
A caller on the 2000 block of Malory Lane told police someone they knew, who was forbidden from the property, was trying to get in, police said.
Joshua P. Kanner, 19, with a last known address also on the 2000 block of Malory Lane, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing to property after his case was reviewed by the office of the State's Attorney.
DUI
On March 12, at 4:21 a.m., Daniel B. Stone, 28, of the 1600 block Kayla Lane in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road.
BURGLARY
On March 6, shortly after 11:00 a.m., someone was reported to have entered a facility located in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue by dislodging a locked door sometime in the prior couple of days.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On March 7, around 7:30 a.m., someone discovered that an a window of a business located in the 700 block of Central Avenue had been cracked the prior night by some sort of projectile.
On March 7, shortly before 5:00 p.m., it was discovered that someone had damaged a window of a house located in the 2500 block of Western Avenue earlier that day.
