Highland Park National Night Out 2018: Dunk A Cop
It's the 35th annual National Night Out, and you're welcome to come eat a ton of doughnuts or drop a cop in the dunk tank.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — It's that time of year again! Highland Park's National Night Out is coming up next week, and there's tons going on. The event's on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at City Hall from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Enjoy everything from an obstacle course, bounce house, a DJ, a dunk tank, a petting zoo and tons more. Attendees will have a chance to go through the DUI and texting while driving simulation and turn in unwanted prescription drugs for safe disposal.
The event is meant to "heighten drug prevention and crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community relationships."

The Boy Scouts of America will be the honor guard, joined by a recital of Star Spangled Banner by the Highland Park Police Department's own Laura Fairchild.
There will also be a K9 presentation, which kicks off at 6:45 p.m.

If you want to make anybody in particular drop into the dunk tank, here's the schedule:
- 6:15 to 6:35: Juvenile Officer Eric Hernandez
- 6:35 to 6:55: Assistant City Manager Rob Sabo
- 6:55 to 7:15: Public Works Director Ramesh Kanapareddy
- 7:15 to 7:35: School Resource Officer Amy Hyndman
- 7:35 to 7:55: Deputy Fire Chief Tim Pease
- 7:55 to 8:15: Police Chief Lou Jogmen
Don't forget the doughnut eating competition. Contestants will be grouped by: K-5, middle school, high school and adult.
