Highwood’s Annual Holiday Festival Set for November 30

Seasonal fun and treats for the whole family, plus special Small Business Saturday shopping deals.

The Highwood Chamber of Commerce will officially start the community’s 2019 seasonal celebrations on Small Business Saturday, November 30, with the 6th Annual Highwood Holiday Festival. Presented by Bank of Highwood-Fort Sheridan, this year’s event features merry fun for the whole family from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., culminating with a spectacular tree lighting ceremony.

The festivities begin at City Hall, 17 Highwood Avenue, where holiday revelers and shoppers can pick up a map and schedule for all the afternoon’s free activities. Highlights include a kid-friendly Cookie Walk featuring delicious treats at stops around town, seasonal music, and shopping. Roasted chestnuts and delicious s’mores, courtesy of The Silk Thumb and The ABL Group, provide a taste of the holidays, and kids can get crafty at a “glitter bar” and ornament-making station, courtesy of Symonds Funeral Home. Horse-drawn carriage rides will be available for $5, thanks to the event’s “Sleigh Sponsors”, Viti Companies and 28 Mile Vodka.

At 4:00 p.m., Santa will make an appearance in a Mercedes-Benz from Autohaus on Edens escorted by the Highland Park Fire Department. He will be available for photos and listening to holiday wishes until the end of the festival at 6:00 p.m.
