Highwood Will Spend Millions on Sanitary, Water Improvements
Decision to focus infrastructure spending comes week after massive water main break.

More than half of the $4 million Highwood plans to spend in infrastructure this year will go toward water and sanitary sewer improvements.
The news comes a week after a massive water main break on Sheridan Road left about 5,400 residents without water for 11 hours and a boil order being in effect for another day.
The Chicago Tribune reports the city expects to authorize bonds this spring for about $1.49 million of the $4 million in planned construction, with the balance coming from EPA loans, conventional loans and grants.
