Highwood's Pastificio Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Community invited to help celebrate Saturday, August 5 from 2-7 p.m.

HIGHWOOD, IL (AUGUST 5, 2017) – Pastificio, Highwood’s well-established Northern Italian take-home gourmet specialty food shop at 122 Highwood Avenue, is excited to celebrate 40 years in business. Owner, Patricia Galli is inviting the public to join her to mark this milestone occasion at a special anniversary celebration from 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 with a selection of Italian specialties, espresso, wine, giveaways and live performance by Tony Ocean.

Patricia along with her mother Elsa opened Pastificio in 1977. With their Italian roots, the specialty shop prides itself in preparing authentic all-natural Northern Italian cuisine using only the freshest ingredients from scratch daily, including prepared heat and serve entrees, freshly dried pasta, pasta sauces, gourmet breads, desserts, soups and other specialty items.

Guests at Pastificio’s 40th Anniversary Celebration will enjoy a large selection of homemade Italian specialties, pastas, bruschetta, tapenades, signature lasagna, and a variety of red and white wines from various regions of Italy. La Dotta Coffee will be serving their exceptional espresso from Italy, and Fabbri Inc. will be showcasing their signature marinated wild cherries and strawberries in a number of different airy summertime desserts such as granita and tiramisu mousse.

“Community means a lot to us and our customers are like one big family,” said Galli who is looking forward to reminiscing and spending time with all of her guests as she extends her most heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Pastificio throughout the years. “My mother is actually the innovator and soul of the business and inspiration for a concept that is still unique to this day. In fact, I believe Pastificio would not exist without my mother’s strength, courage and creative spirit.”

In a letter from the City of Highwood, Mayor Charlie Pecaro said: “your talents and efforts are evident by your large number of regular customers. Our city is certainly better from your presence and we are proud to be your home for the past 40 years.”
