Homeless Man Vandalizes Restroom: Police
Front door reported pried open on Sunset Road.

The following information was submitted by the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Marco Barete, 23, Highwood was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance at 4:05 a.m. December 21 after police responded to a suspicious vehicle parked occupied in the 3200 block of University Avenue. Barete was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan pending court date.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Jose Diaz-Alcocer, 28, currently homeless was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property at 5:51 a.m. December 22 after police responded to a report of an unwanted subject in the 700 block of Park Avenue West who had damaged a restroom by flushing disinfectant wipes and specimen cups down a toilet. Diaz-Alcocer was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 14, 2015 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED
Julie Reinstein, 54, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, registration suspended for no insurance and uninsured motor vehicle at 6:55 p.m. December 23 after being stopped by police near the intersection of Beverly Place and Central Avenue. Reinstein was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 28, 2015 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Chantel Tyus, 24, Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, uninsured motor vehicle and child endangerment at 10:28 p.m. December 24 after being stopped by police in the 500 block of Skokie Valley Road. Tyus was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 23, 2015 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan.
THEFT
Money left in a card taped to a refuse can intended as a gift for the sanitation workers was reported stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on December 19. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Violet Court.
BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
An unlocked vehicle was entered and keys, cash, a GPS and phone charger were taken on December 19.
The incident occurred in the 600 block of Walnut Place.
THEFT
A purple Gucci wallet containing cash, credit cards and identification were taken from a vehicle between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. December 19 while the vehicle was parked inside of a garage in the 300 block of Briar Lane.
BURGLARY
Unknown subject(s) pried open a front door to a residence in the 1600 block of Sunset Road on December 19.
BURGLARY
Sometime between 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. December 20, unknown subject(s) pried open a front door to a residence in the 1600 block of Second Street. Dressers, cabinets and end tables were ransacked and several pieces of jewelry and a black backpack were taken.
THEFT
Two envelopes with money left in a cards taped to a refuse can intended as a gift for the sanitation workers were stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. December 22. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Groveland Avenue
THEFT
Two cases of beer wrapped with cards intended as a gift for the sanitation workers were stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. December 22. The incident occurred in the 800 block of Pleasant Avenue.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
Unknown subject(s) spray painted various words and symbols on building materials and the interior and exterior walls of a building under construction in the 400 block of Vine Avenue on December 22.
THEFT
Money left in a card taped to a refuse can intended as a gift for the sanitation workers was stolen. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Saxony Drive on December 23.

Two cards intended as a gift for the sanitation workers were stolen after 7 a.m. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Country Lane December 23.
