Thieves steal seven bottles of alcohol, two ferrets, pair of female hamsters.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updated information about the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts.
INCIDENTS
VANDALISM
A flagpole was broken, a photo of an Israeli hostage was torn and a permit was removed around 6 p.m. on June 26 from a commercial building at St. John’s and Central avenues. The total estimated loss was not known at the time of the report.
TRESPASSING
Someone stole a garbage can from the front of the property in the 200 block of Laurel Ave. around 4 p.m. on July 1.

STOLEN CARS
Someone stole two vehicles, a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2017 Ford Fusion, around 11:31 p.m. on July 14, in the first block of Johnston Drive. Both had been left unlocked with keys inside.
SHOPLIFTING

- An unidentified male shoplifter stole about $900 worth of allergy medication around 1 p.m. on June 24, from the Walgreen's, 632 Roger Williams Ave.
- Three unidentified female shoplifters stole seven bottles of liquor around 7:30 p.m. on June 26 at the Jewel Osco, 1600 Deerfield Road for an unknown loss.
- An unidentified female shoplifter stole about $102 worth of unspecified merchandise around 10:45 a.m. on July 1 at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.
- A large group of flowers and plants were reported stolen between July 1 and July 3 from Crossroads Shopping Center, 295 Skokie Valley Road, for an unknown loss.
- Four animals — two ferrets and two hamsters — were taken around 1 p.m. on July 7 from the Petco at 1616 Deerfield Road for a combined loss of $800.
- Someone stole about $86 worth of food items from the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Roadaround 11 a.m. on July 10.
THEFT
- Someone stole a pair of unattended Apple AirPods prior to about 5:15 p.m. on June 24, at the LA Fitness at 115 Skokie Valley Road for an unknown loss.
- Someone cut a lock on a locker and stole about $120 around 11:30 a.m. on on June 30 at the LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road.
- Gas with an undetermined value was siphoned from a vehicle between July 3 and July 8 while it was parked at Floral Gardens, 2109 Green Bay Road.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole four credit cards and a passport from an unlocked car parked at Exmoor Country Club, 700 Vine Ave, on July 4 and later used them to buy things.
- A purse was stolen in a June 23 after a window of a car was left open while it was parked in the 1200 block of Old Skokie Road. The purse was later found on a parkway on July 8 with about $150 cash missing.
- Someone got into four parked cars and stole cash and valuables were stolen during the night of July 10 or morning of July 11 in the 2800 block of Lexington Lane West.
- Someone got into an unlocked car overnight on the July 10-11 in the 2700 block of Port Clinton Road, but nothing was reported stolen.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 29-year-old Justice man arrested and charged with reckless driving, speeding 35 mph or more above the limit and improper lane usage after officers pulled him over around 4:30 a.m. on June 24.
Stephen F. Greenwell, 60, of the 600 block of Green Bay Road, Highwood, was arrested and charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and criminal trespass to residence after police were dispatched to a report of a a trespasser at a home.
A 24-year-old Wheeling man was arrested around 7:47 a.m. on June 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and blocking the flow of traffic following a traffic stop at the intersection of Park Avenue and Skokie Valley Road.
A 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested around 4:45 p.m. on June 30 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license and disorderly conduct. Police were dispatched to a report of a dispute at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue, where the man reportedly tried to get into a 911 caller's car "several times" before being detained by Lake Forest police.
A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on July 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an investigation into a property damage accident in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage.
Hermilio Sandoval, 57, of the first block of Palmer Street, Highwood, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on July 2 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony retail theft following a theft incident at Target on Skokie Valley Road.
Tyler Jamar Dixon, 28, of the 800 block of 7th Street in Hope, Arkansas, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on July 5 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of .08 or more. He was also cited for improper lane usage after a traffic stop at Skokie Valley Road and Old Elm Road.
Martese Petigree, 49, of the 7600 block of North Sheridan Road, Chicago, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on July 6 and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police were dispatched to a report of someone with drugs at Highland Park Hospital.
Felice Hope Zeitlin, 64, of the 300 block of North Pershing Avenue, Mundelein, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on July 8 and charged with hit-and-run, fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic crash at Skokie Valley and Deerfield Road. She was also cited for suspended registration and improper lane usage.
Martha Nury Koopman, 66, of the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 1:29 p.m. on July 10 and charged with an in-state warrant after turning herself in at the Highland Park Police Department on outstanding warrants stemming from allegations of criminal trespassing and resisting police.
A 47-year-old man with an unknown address was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on July 12 and charged with theft after officers received a report of a stolen package in the 200 block of Sheridan Road. They later found the man in possession of stolen property.
