HP Brothers Are The Minds Behind Hit PBS Kids Show

Highland Park News tells the story of Adam and David Rudman, whose HP production studio is behind 'Nature Cat.'

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - A pair of brothers from Highland Park are behind one of the nation’s most popular PBS children’s series.

David and Adam Rudman and their Highland Park production company Spiffy Pictures are the creators of “Nature Cat,” which premiered last fall and has become one of PBS Kids’ five highest rates programs. It stars voices with strong ties to Saturday Night Live like Chris Parnell and Kate McKinnon and follows the character of “Fred,” who finds himself in a variety of situations with a dog and a bunny.

The Rudman brothers have operated Spiffy out of the second floor of a Highland Park strip mall since 2003, according to a feature in the Highland Park News.

"We really like to make our shows for everybody — for parents to enjoy as much as the kids," said David, the elder sibling, whose day job has long been playing Cookie Monster on PBS staple "Sesame Street."

“Nature Cat” may be fairly new to a national audience, but David Rudman is not. He’s been the voice of “Cookie Monster” on the longtime favorite children’s show “Sesame Street” since 2000.
