HP Mayor Featured in Forbes Article on Women Shattering Political Glass Ceilings
Hillary Clinton isn't the only woman breaking political barriers. Example one: Nancy Rotering.

Nationally, Hillary Clinton has already made headlines as the first woman to be nominated by a major political party to serve as President of the United States and could be the first woman elected to the office come November.
But she isn’t the only woman breaking down political barriers, as shown in a recent article by Forbes Magazine. An article that touts the accomplishments of Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering.
Rotering is the only one mentioned in the article by writer Whitney Johnson, who says the Clinton nomination shouldn’t mean the political accomplishments of other women should be overlooked.

“Politics close to home can have an equal or greater impact on the quality of individual lives than national politics do,” Johnson wrote, highlighting the mayorality of Rotering, who has been in the highest Highland Park office since being elected the city’s first female mayor in 2011.
“Largely an affluent suburb, the gulf here between rich and poor is daunting. Rotering tackles these challenges armed with the best piece of advice she has ever received: ‘Walk, don’t run. Calmness backed by defined analysis inspires confidence,'” according to the article, which also touts Rotering’s impressive education resume.

Rotering is in place to be Highland Park’s mayor until 2019. Earlier this year, she sought a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois’ 10th District but was defeated by former congressman Brad Schneider in the Democratic primary. It was an election that proved closer than most initially thought, more of a reason to notice the political rise of Highland Park's top official.
