HP Native's Firm to Host Chess Championship
SBB Research Group to host K-12 tournament at McCormick Place.

Northbrook-based Hedge Fund Management firm, SBB Research Group will host the Greater Chicago’s Official Scholastic Chess Championship on Saturday, February 7 at McCormick Place.
The tournament is open to students of all ages, from kindergarten through the 12th grade. SBB Research’s Group’s sponsorship provided free entry and USCF memberships to hundreds of Chicago students from Title 1 schools so they can compete for the Title of City Champion at the event.

SBB Research Group is owned by 24-year-old Sam Barnett and manages $120 million in assets. Barnett, who grew up in Highland Park, started the firm while a student at Cal Tech, and he currently runs his firm while also working toward his Ph.D at Northwestern. Sam is also an internationally renowned professional tennis player.
