I will vote for Dan Jenks and Art Kessler

District 112 is navigating the toughest time it has known in a generation. Schisms in the community, competing objectives, and immovable financial imperatives make now the time for the steadiest hands to be on the rudder.

And that is why I am voting for Dan Jenks and Art Kessler for the School Board on April 4.

All the candidates are well intentioned individuals, with stated desires to give of their time and experience to help tread through these waters.

But Dan and Art each bring special edge that has earned them these spots.

Dan Jenks brings both financial and legal expertise to the table. Dan’s edge comes from his ability to lead effectively and collaboratively during heavy times. Tested during his time with CLEAR113 – which financed the district’s higher education referendum – his edge was more recently evidenced during his time as co-chair of the Reconfiguration 2.0 Finance Committee. One anecdote sums it up: as one constituent was identifying where Dan’s model could use improvement, Dan reached out…sat down..and solved the issues with the individual as a team.

Art Kessler brings a Cool-hand-Luke style alongside his ability to view our district’s issues from all angles. As an entrepreneur in commercial business, he offers practical and executeable direction that balances time, cost and outcomes. He has been a key and outspoken figure during the time since the referendum, with a willingness to use his easy style and command of the issues to be among the most vocal faces of Reconfiguration 2.0. It is this particular combination of business expertise and willingness to be front and center, that is Art’s edge.

These are the steady hands I want on our community’s rudder. I will vote for Dan Jenks and Art Kessler on April 4.
