Anyone interested in social justice is invited to two upcoming events about expungement. It matters--imagine being an innocent person arrested for a crime, being acquitted, but still having an arrest record--and you can do something about it.
Tomorrow, June 1, is a Tenth Dems University event (which comes with free CLE for lawyers who attend), and the June 24th one is a request for volunteer lawyers (the training in advance might be useful, though not necessary).

WHEN: Thursday, June 1, 5:30 p.m. registration/reception; 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., program

WHERE: Waukegan Public Library, 128 N. County Street, Waukegan.
Speakers include Jed Stone, Waukegan criminal defense attorney (and member of our Tenth Dems Election Protection Legal Team), Jennifer Witherspoon, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Megan Brady, Prairie State Legal Services attorney, and Erin Cartwright Weinstein, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Lake County. 1.5 hours CLE for lawyers. Non-lawyers are also welcome to attend.

WHAT: Coalition to Reduce Recidivism Annual Expungement and Sealing Workshop and Job Fair
WHEN: Saturday, June 24, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: Waukegan Community Church, 1016 Grand Avenue, Waukegan
Whether or not you’ll be able to attend the Expungement and Sealing Workshop, you are welcome to attend the free program on June 1st. You may attend either of these events without attending the other.
If interested in helping with our Tenth Dems Lawyers Committee, including lawyer assignments, candidate support (ballot access, compliance, etc.) and election protection, please let us know. Committee chairs needed.
