JUF Hires Deerfield Native as Communications Associate

Steven Chaitman, of Deerfield, recently joined the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago as a Communications Associate.

 

In his new role, Chaitman manages social media for the JUF/Federation; writes for the organizations’ print and online publication, JUF News; and serves as managing editor for the Oy!Chicago website, which is geared to young adults.

“I’m thrilled that I’ve found an opportunity that allows me to combine my journalism skills and my passion for Jewish professional work,” said Chaitman, who is a Deerfield native. “I’m excited to see how both will grow in my time here.”

Prior to coming to the JUF/Federation, Chaitman was the Movie Section Editor for EntertainmentFuse.com and a freelance reporter for Windy City Times and RedEye. He also was an SEO Copyeditor/Writer for Grainger Industrial Supply. Chaitman held an internship in reporting for the Chi-Town Daily News, and was a Staff Reporter for the Columbia Missourian

 

He also works as a high school youth adviser at Congregation Beth Am in Buffalo Grove, and has previously worked as a song leader, including as a music specialist for JCC Chicago early childhood programs.

 

Chaitman earned his Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri, and is a graduate of Deerfield High School.

 

He is the son of Beth and Joel Chaitman, who live in Deerfield.
