Labor Day At Ravinia: Snoop Dogg, Music Of The Baroque, Squeeze

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park music fans still have time to make Labor Day weekend plans at Ravinia Festival, where several performances remain on the schedule before the 2026 season ends Sept. 23.

The lineup includes classical music, hip-hop, a new original work, piano repertory and a rock concert spread across multiple Ravinia venues.

The Labor Day weekend begins Thursday when Music of the Baroque returns to Ravinia with conductor Dame Jane Glover for a 7:30 p.m. performance in the Hunter Pavilion. Tickets start at $33.

On Friday, Snoop Dogg is scheduled to make his Ravinia debut at 7:30 p.m. While the lawn is almost sold out, Hunter Pavilion seats are still available, with tickets starting at $108.

Saturday brings the premiere of “Mayrig,” an original work by Karen Ouzounian, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sandra K. Crown Theater. Ravinia describes the piece as one that “weaves three generations of mother voices through songs, stories, and immersive projected illustrations,” and says it features cello, oud, viola, bass, piano and electronics.

The festival notes that “Mayrig,” meaning “mother” in Armenian, is the inaugural selection of the Steans Institute Alumni Catalyst Fund, which supports projects created by former fellows of Ravinia’s artistic training program at the Steans Institute. Tickets are listed at $46.

On Sunday, pianist Olga Kern is set to perform at 1:30 p.m. in Bennett Gordon Hall. Her program spans works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky and Gershwin, with tickets listed at $20. Later that day, British band Squeeze will bring the Tried, Tested and Trixies Tour to the Hunter Pavilion at 6:30 p.m., joined by special guests Adam Ant and Haircut 100. Tickets for that show start at $70.

Ravinia’s calendar continues beyond Labor Day weekend. Upcoming performances over the next several weeks include Erykah Badu, Alison Krauss, Ziggy Marley, Tom Jones and Martina McBride. The season also includes the 10th anniversary of Fiesta Ravinia, a celebration of Mexican music and culture with headliners Los Tigres del Norte.
