Lake Co. Probation Coordinator Awarded Service Hours to Probation Clients for Sexual Favors: Police

A Lake County probation coordinator faces official misconduct charges after police said he awarded service hours to those on probation in exchange for money or sexual acts.
Anselmo Magana, 44, of Lindenhurst, is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $250,000 bond and is charged with 11 counts of official misconduct.

Magana is accused of unlawfully awarding the service hours to probation clients who had not completed the hours assigned by the court, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release.
An investigation into the misconduct began in January 2014. Detectives conducted several interviews during their investigation.

The Lake County Grand Jury on Wednesday indicted Magana on the official misconduct charges and issues an arrest warrant. He was taken into custody at his place of employment.
