Lockdown at Edgewood School Result of False Alarm

An "active shooter" alarm at Edgewood Middle School Monday morning was false.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Edgewood Middle School was briefly locked down and traffic on Edgewood Road blocked Monday morning after a false “active shooter” alarm that went off at the school.

The alarm was falsely activated at 7:25 a.m. through the school’s BluePoint Alert system, according to a report from the Highland Park News. It was set off through one of the mobile pendants assigned to staff members.

The lockdown lasted about 25 minutes.
