Lone Bid on Asphalt Project Likely To Be Rejected

Recommendation indicates Park District of Highland Park has "little confidence" in bidding contractor.

The Park District of Highland Park is expected to reject the lone bid submitted for the purchase of materials and services related to the District-wide asphalt replacement and repair plan.

The District received only one qualified bid on Thursday, which came from Chicagoland Paving, Inc. out of Lake Zurich for a total base cost of $189,9000 and an alternate of $4,900.

But a recommendation from Richard Stumpf, director of planning and projects, indicated the District has had “little confidence” in the contractor “given our past experience.”

“We feel it wisest to solicit additional bids from other contractors as we should expect competitive proposals and quality service,” the recommendation reads.
