Longitud315 Celebrates Day of the Dead with Mezcal & Mole Mash Up

Two seatings Sunday, October 30th at 5 & 7:30 p.m. filling up fast!

HIGHWOOD, IL (OCTOBER 30, 2016) – Chef Tony Castillo of South American fusion restaurant Longitud315 in Highwood, IL is collaborating with Chef Freddy Sanchez of Taco Nano in Northfield to host a mezcal and mole mash up event in celebration of Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, on Sunday, October 30th. The public is invited to join the two chefs at Longitud315 (315 Waukegan Avenue) as they bring the Day of the Dead to life with a traditional eight-course menu at two special seatings at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The special dinner features a variety of authentic Mexican mole dishes unique to the towns of Michoacan, Puebla, Morelos and Guerrero. Each chef will be preparing two mole recipes, as well as one dessert each, accompanied by pairings of mezcal. The two chefs will address the diners with descriptions of the plates as they are presented with their courses. The event will also feature an ofrenda alter to honor family members who passed away, sugar skull making and a Day of the Dead face painting.

Chef Tony is also selling his signature spice blend for $10 per bottle with all proceeds going towards youth education in Colombia. He recently returned from delivering school supplies to 40 young students in the small village of Palenque (www.facebook.com/KidsofPalenque) and hopes to bring backpacks on his next visit. To help, the public is invited to drop off a new or gently used backpack, as well as purchase his signature spice blend at the event or anytime during restaurant hours.
