Featured Obituary:

Yongqin Mao of Evanston, Illinois, passed away on August 24, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Yu Cao. Loving mother of Jeffrey Jiangping (Ellen Meiying) Cao and Jianping (Ping) Cao. Devoted grandmother of Annemarie Ellen; Elizabeth Ingrid and Emily Cao.

Yongqin was born in China. Her given name, Yongqin, means, "forever diligent and hardworking" and she exemplified those characteristics throughout her life. Although the political turmoil and social unrest robbed her of her childhood and youth years, Yongqin never gave up on her pursuit of a better life for herself and her family. She was determined to fight against any adversity in front of her and even took over the responsibility of looking after her five younger siblings during the Great Famine in the 1960s.

Yongqin sacrificed so much for her family. Without her support and encouragement, we wouldn't be able to complete our education and began our new life in the US and Canada.

Yongqin was very passionate about craft work, ballroom dance, art, and working with numbers (third generation accountant in her family). Her favorite pastime activities are strolling along Lake Michigan, knitting, or visiting the Art Institute of Chicago.
