Featured Obituary:

Gloria Cortesi Muzik died at home, peacefully in her sleep on July 15, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald F. Muzik (2001), her parents Domenic and Ester Cortesi, and brothers, Joseph (Gloria), Raymond (Elaine), and Domenic , and nephews Allen and Peter. Loving Mother of Andrew (Jean), Matthew (Charlotte), Amy Muzik Schroeder (Tom), Tony, Martin (Maria), & Jerry (Loreen). The best Nonna to Brandon (Liz), Amanda (Craig), Ryan, Bennet, Avery, Michael, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Nina, Marissa & Marty.Greatest Nonna to Wesley, Wyatt & Charlie. Many many nieces & nephews, and many many friends.

Gloria was born on July 29, 1931 in Highland Park and resided there her entire life. She grew up in a neighborhood she loved, where everyone knew everyone, cared for each other, and loved one another. She married Jerry in 1951 and they raised their family in that same great neighborhood.

Her family was her passion. Though Gloria always held a good job. As a young girl, helping her mother clean houses. As a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell. A cashier at Sunset Foods. Helping at the Muzik Family restaurant "Tap O Muzik" in Highwood (most recently Pierantoni's). She worked along side Jerry at their famous little ice cream shop "Zesto"(near Waukegan Ave. & Washington in HWD).
She took a break while kids 4, 5 & 6 learned to fend in an already busy house before returning to work in the mid 70's. She put in 5 or 6 years keeping the books at Skokie Valley Laundry. Then a few years of book keeping at the District 113 office before taking over from her Aunt Elvira at Amideo Ritacca & Son's for many years.

A life long member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Glor could often be found volunteering at parish events like Mardi Gras and the rummage sale. And she volunteered in the Parish office for a few years as well.
