Overnight Crime Spree in Highland Park Last Week

Police reports indicate a number of criminal incidents occurred overnight from October 28 to 29.

The following information is from the Highland Park Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Kwame Overton, 25, Zion was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, suspended registration for no insurance and speeding after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road at 1 a.m. on November 1.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Keith Larson, 53, Buffalo Grove was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after being stopped by police near Deerfield Road and Villas Court at 2:32 a.m. on November 1.

AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Sandra Contreras, 29, Northfield was arrested and charged with improper lane usage, driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, open transportation of alcohol by driver, uninsured motor vehicle, aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving while license revoked and obstructing identification after being stopped by police in the 400 block of the Edens Expressway at 2:09 a.m. on November 2.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Sometime overnight on October 25 a vehicle was entered (nothing taken) and damaged. Unknown person(s) cracked the windshield and broke off the rearview mirror while the vehicle was parked in a driveway in the 600 block of Washington Place.

THEFT

Sometime in the last three months, a dozen pieces of jewelry have been reported missing from a jewelry case inside of a residence in the 1200 block of Ridge Road. No forced entry or damage to the residence was found.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A Nissan Sentra parked in a lot in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road was broken into and a wallet containing cash and identification was stolen sometime before 8:55 p.m. on October 26. Entry was gained by breaking a front passenger window.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Sometime overnight from October 28-29, an unlocked Ford Flex parked in the 1200 block of St. John’s Avenue was entered and a brown leather purse and essential oils were stolen.

STOLEN AUTO

A Jeep Commander parked in a driveway in the 200 block of Hazel Avenue was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. on October 28 and 7:30 a.m. on October 29. One of two keys to the vehicle were left in the center console.

STOLEN AUTO

An unlocked Volvo parked in an unsecured garage with the keys inside in the 800 block of Stone Gate Drive was stolen sometime between 10 p.m. on October 28 and 8 a.m. on October 29. A second vehicle inside of the garage had been rummaged thru and a pair of sunglasses were taken.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Unknown person(s) threw a piece of concrete thru the rear window of a Nissan Altima while parked in the 600 block of Walnut Street overnight from October 28-29.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Sometime overnight from October 28 to 29, an unlocked GMC parked in the 1400 block of Sherwood Road was entered. The glove box and center console were rummaged thru but nothing was reported missing.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Sometime overnight from October 28 to 29, an unlocked Land Rover parked in the 800 block of Thackeray Drive was entered. The glove box was found open and an iPod shuffle was missing.

THEFT

A gray 19” Specialized hybrid bicycle was stolen by unknown person(s) sometime on October 27. The bicycle was locked at the train station in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue.

THEFT

On October 29 sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., a set of car keys were taken from or fell out of a jacket pocket while visiting a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.
