Police Department, City Hall are Warming Shelters in Highland Park

Winter weather advisory to be in effect until 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

For Highland Park residents seeking relief from the cold weather conditions, the following facilities serve as warming shelters.

• Police Department Headquarters, 1677 Old Deerfield Road – 24 hours

• City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Highland Park and the rest of Lake County are under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning tonight, Monday, January 5 at 6:00 p.m. through Tuesday, January 6 at 6:00 a.m. Additionally, we are seeing some of the coldest weather of the winter season so far. Cold, sub-zero temperatures such as these can lead to frostbite and hypothermia within a matter of minutes.

Residents are urged to take precautionary measures when venturing out. To prevent frostbite, wear hats that cover the ears, scarves or masks to cover the face, and several layers of clothing to trap body heat. If you witness signs of frostbite or hypothermia, seek immediate medical assistance.

The Police Department can conduct well-being checks, especially for the elderly. To request a well-being check, contact the Police Department Non-Emergency Number at (847) 432-7730.
