Rate Hikes for Peoples Gas, North Shore Gas Approved

Customers of both Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas will soon see higher rates on their bills.

The hikes, $74.8 million for Peoples Gas and $3.7 million for North Shore Gas, were approved by a 3-1 vote Wednesday by the Illinois Commerce Commission, NBC-Chicago reports.

Monthly gas bills are expected to increase by an average of $2.90 for Peoples Gas and $2.50 for North Shore Gas.

Each hike is less than what the companies had requested.
