Remodel Direct Stands With Seniors to Prevent Falls in Honor of National Fall Prevention Day

Public invited to Grand Opening Friday September 22, 2017 Open House, Tours, and Demo's 10am-4pm; Ribbon Cutting Events at 5pm

BUFFALO GROVE, IL (SEPTEMBER 22, 2017) – National Fall Prevention Day acknowledges that one in three Americans over the age of 65 falls every year. Remodel Direct of Buffalo Grove, the only company locally AND nationally providing factory-direct customized safe and stylish solutions for anyone 50 and older to safely and independently age in their homes, is pleased to stand together with National Council on Aging (NCOA) to prevent falls by hosting their Grand Opening with an Open House and official Ribbon Cutting on National Fall Prevention Day (September 22) in their new showroom (230 Lexington Dr.). The Open House will be held from 10 am – 7 pm with the official ribbon cutting at 5 pm with the Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce.

Throughout the day and evening, Remodel Direct will host tours of their showroom and provide informational Q & A sessions to help older adults remain steady and balanced within their own homes. Additionally, all attendees will receive a complimentary home evaluation and a $500 credit toward any project including: walk-in bathtubs, tub to shower conversions, grab bars, stair lifts, modular ramps, kitchen accessories, closets, motorized window shades and more.

As 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day, the vast majority want to stay (“age”) in their homes for as long as possible. “Most homes were built for raising our families, not for growing old, or aging-in-place,” says Rick Hirschhaut, President, Remodel Direct and certified Aging-In-Place and Living-In-Place specialist. “After researching the need for this kind of specialized market, I was shocked to find there was no business that focused exclusively on this growing demographic. Applying my 30+ years of experience in the home improvement sector, Remodel Direct was founded and we are pleased to help homeowners attain independence, reduce the risk of falls and other injuries, and remain in their home for the long run without major structural changes.”

Imagine pull-down shelving in closets and kitchen cabinets for easy accessibility, a grab bar addition to a shower for steadying, accessible walk-in tubs, and so much more. These changes not only ensure comfort and safety, but also increase quality of living and enjoyment due to feeling secure at home for the long haul.

  • Every 13 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall.

Remodel Direct serves as the one-stop-shop for safe home customization for seniors wanting to age in their home as well as children and adults with disabilities and medical needs that require safer solutions within the home. Current cost of in-home health care averages $45,760 a year and a private room in a Nursing Home averages $92,378. However, Remodel Direct is the pro-active solution BEFORE a fall or injury happens. They provide solutions at a much lower one-time cost to the homeowner, often less than the equivalent of just one month of in-home service or a month’s rent at a facility. And, Remodel Direct improvements are warrantied for a lifetime.

“We understand homeowner’s wants and needs and have the solutions, specialization and expertise to create a space that is safe and affordable for independent living,” says Hirschhaut. “We are filling a major void within the marketplace and look forward to servicing more homes in and around Chicagoland and beyond.”
