Rotering: HP's Economic Outlook is Positive

Mayor announces plans for city to host technology roundtable.

The economic outlook in Highland Park is “positive,” Mayor Nancy Rotering described during her “State of the City” address, which was delivered during a meeting of the City Council earlier this week.

“Increased development, jobs, improved sales tax revenues have enhanced vibrancy in our city,” Rotering said. “New businesses continue to open and the city’s retail occupancy rate is at a pre-recession high.”

To point out the city’s popularity in attracting and retaining businesses, the Mayor welcomed hundreds of community leaders, real estate professionals and business prospects to the City’s annual business summitt.

“This event provides an excellent opportunity to review economic trends, discuss the local economy, enhance business retention and attraction and facilitate economic growth within Highland Park,” she said.

Based on conversations at that event, Rotering says she plans to host an upcoming technology roundtable that “will focus on furthering Highland Park’s appeal to this growing sector.”
