Stolen Car Leaves the Scene of Accident, is Quickly Caught, Police say

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park police department. They are a record of police action. Arrests are not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges are often dropped or reduced.

NO VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE

On Jan. 31 at 12:41 a.m., an 18-year-old of the 1400 block of Hervery Avenue, North Chicago was arrested and charged with speeding 26 – 34 miles per hour over the limit, not having a valid driver’s license, possession of cannabis, illegal transportation of alcohol and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor after being pulled over in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road.

POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

On Jan. 31 at 4:24 p.m., a 20-year-old man of the 11000 block of South Michigan Avenue, Chicago was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident after police caught up to him in the 2900 block of Summit Avenue.

BURGLARY

On Jan. 31 at 8:21 p.m., a 26-year-old man of the 4600 block of North Sayre Avenue, Harwood Heights was arrested and charged with burglary and retail theft over $300 after police responded to a complaint in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

On Feb. 1 shortly after 7:00 a.m. a 32-year-old woman of the 100 block of North Skokie Highway, Knollwood was arrested and charged with criminal trespass after police responded to a complaint in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue.

THEFT

On Feb. 4 at 7:14 a.m. a report was received that someone stole a pair of boots left in an unlocked part of a building in the 700 block of Park Avenue West.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Feb. 4 at 3:09 p.m. someone stole multiple items from a parked vehicle after smashing a window while located in a parking lot in the 700 block of Central Avenue.

On Feb. 4 at 4:08 p.m. it was reported someone stole multiple items from a parked vehicle after smashing a window while located in a parking lot in the 1700 block of First Street. Both burglaries were reported to have taken place between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
On Feb. 5 at 4:42 a.m., a 52-year-old man of the 200 block of Stewart Avenue, Waukegan was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance after police responded to a complaint in the 1300 block of Half Day Road.
