Highland Park Police Blotter: Aug. 7 - Aug. 14

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

THEFT

On Aug. 8, police were told someone stole a cell phone after it had been unintentionally dropped at a business located in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road.

On Aug. 5 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone reportedly stole cash from a person at a business in the 1800 block of Second Street, police were told on Aug. 8.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Someone entered an unlocked car in the 200 block of Barberry Road sometime between Aug. 5 and Aug. 8, and no items were reported missing.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On July 31, police were told someone defaced property with spray paint near the intersection of Old Deerfield Road and Old Skokie Road at some point.

THEFT

On Aug. 8, it was reported that someone stole a bicycle that had been left unattended at a home in the 3000 block of Greenwood Avenue between 8:20 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. on August 8th.

THEFT

On Aug 9., police were told that someone had stolen a front license plate from a vehicle at an unknown location between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 11, it was reported that someone stole a cell phone and cash from a car parked outside a home on the 100 block of Ridge Road between midnight and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Also on Aug. 11, police were told someone stole a cell phone and cash from another vehicle that had been parked outside a residence on the 100 block of Ridge Road the prior night.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

On Aug. 11, it was reported that someone entered a vehicle parked at a business located in the first block of Skokie Valley Road and stole a lunchbox containing a car key between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 10.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

On Aug. 11, it was reported that someone had entered a home in the 400 block of Braeside Road and stole various items between 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. Police did not disclose if there was forced entry or what, if anything, was reported stolen.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On Aug. 11, police were told someone spray painted a gazebo in the first block of Ravine Drive sometime in the prior day. Police did not disclose the reported damage.

ARRESTS

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

Keith Dantrel Gordon, 22, of the 12000 block of West Highland Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, no valid driver’s license and improper lane usage after police responded a traffic accident in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road on Aug. 8 at 8:06 p.m.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Michael J. Kindelin, 23, of the 1800 block of East Ridgewood Lane in Glenview, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police responded to a complaint at the Ravinia Festival in the 200 block of St. Johns Avenue on Aug. 12 at 7:28 p.m.

BATTERY

Luke E. Self, 42, of the 2200 block of Flagstone Lane in Carpentersville, was arrested and charged with battery after police responded to a complaint that he battered another patron at the Ravinia Festival in the 200 block of St. Johns Avenue shortly after midnight on Aug. 13.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Jaime J. Gonzalez, 23, of the 3500 block of East 106th Street in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device after police conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Half Day Road at 3:35 a.m. on Aug. 13.
