String of Early-Morning Car Burglaries Around Highland Park, Police

Police Blotter: Car stolen, 8 others burglarized by thieves in early morning break-ins.

MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARIES

Early morning last Thursday, a string of car break-ins were reported across Highland Park. In the order in which they were received by police:

  • 4:08 AM: Multiple items stolen from car parked outside a home on the 600 block of Homewood Avenue.
  • 4:16 AM: Multiple items stolen from parked car on the 500 block of Vine Avenue.
  • 4:33 AM: Multiple items stolen from another parked car in the 500 block of Vine Avenue.
  • 12:00-5:00 AM: Thieves entered three separate unlocked cars parked outside a house in the 3100 block of University Avenue.
  • 5:10 AM: Multiple items stolen from car parked outside a home on the 1000 block of Princeton Avenue.
  • 5:33 AM: Unknown subject(s) stole multiple items from a car parked outside a home on the 1000 block of Andean Place.
  • 8:28 AM: Reported that an unknown subject(s) entered two unsecured vehicles and stole multiple items while parked outside a residence in the 800 block of Old Trail Road sometime before 7:00 AM on Thursday, January 19.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Also early Thursday morning, a vehicle was reported stolen from the driveway of a residence in the 3200 block of University Avenue. That same vehicle was discovered later the same day by the Waukegan Police Department.

THEFT

On Friday morning, it was reported that multiple packages containing various items have not been delivered to the proper address over the course of six months. The U.S. Postal Inspector Service was notified and will be investigating the incident.

THEFT

Friday evening, it was reported that a 40-50-year-old male stole an item at approximately from a business located in 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road.

THEFT
On Sunday, it was reported that an item was stolen from a facility located in the 800 block of Edgewood Road during a private event.

RETAIL THEFT

Sunday, after police responded to a complaint in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, they arrested an 18-year-old woman of the 1300 block of Sheridan Road in Highland Park and charged her with retail theft. She was released on a personal recognizance bond and has a court date next month in Park City.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Sunday night, it was reported that a man intentionally deflated a tire of a car parked in the 700 block of St. Johns Avenue.
