5K Taco Run raises over $8,000 North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic Winners awarded for Best Tacos in Town

HIGHWOOD, IL (JULY 20-21, 2019) – Celebrate Highwood welcomed back North Shore
Taco Fest July 20-21, where the region’s most talked about taco-centric restaurants, caterers and food trucks came together to offer a huge selection of mouth-watering taco creations for the thousands of visitors in attendance. Now in its fourth year, the event piggybacked on the 51st annual Highwood Days, the City’s most celebrated event complete with live music and carnival rides.
Each taco vendor shared their unique take on the ever-popular taco and competed for the best taco in town, a distinguished trophy and bragging rights. Attendees voted for their favorites and selected the following winners in each category:

Celebrate Highwood also hosted its third North Shore Taco 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, July 20 which raised over $8,000 for North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic. Out of almost 250 runners, Tyler Smith of Libertyville, a recent graduate of Brown University, where he ran cross country and track, came in at an impressive 18:10. All run participants received a run t-shirt and complimentary taco and soft drink, beer or margarita at Taco Fest.
"The overwhelming support that we receive from Celebrate Highwood and all of the participants in the North Shore Taco 5K Run and Walk plays a vital role in carrying out our mission— to provide accessible, quality pro bono legal services in the areas of immigration, domestic violence, and housing to give those in need of access to justice the opportunity to live productive and secure lives,” says Susan Shulman Executive Director of the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic. “The success of the race is a reflection of the importance of our work and we are so grateful.”
