Three Unlocked Cars Stolen, Four More Burgled: Highland Park Crime

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of police activity. An arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state. All arrestees are innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Shortly after 8 a.m. on May 8, it was reported that an someone had stolen an unsecured vehicle with the keys left inside from a driveway located in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue during the prior night.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Around 8:30 a.m. on May 8th, it was reported that someone had entered an unsecured vehicle while parked in a driveway located in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue between the overnight hours of May 7.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Around 9:30 a.m. on May 8, it was reported that someone had entered a vehicle located in the 2800 block of Twin Oaks Drive and stole various items between 8:30 a.m. on May 4 and 8:15 a.m. on May 5.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Shortly after 1 p.m. on May 8, it was reported that someone had entered an unsecured vehicle located in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue and stole various items between 7:30 p.m. on May 7 and 11:15 a.m. on May 8.

RETAIL THEFT

On May 8th at 8:43 p.m., a 24-year-old North Chicago man was issued an administrative citation for retail theft after attempting to leave a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road while concealing merchandise.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

At 10:13 a.m. on May 9, it was reported that someone damaged a mailbox with their vehicle located in the 1900 block of Spruce Avenue.

STOLEN VEHICLE

At 8:41 p.m. on May 10, it was reported that someone had stolen an unsecured vehicle with the keys left inside from a parking lot located in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 10.

STOLEN VEHICLE

At 6:30 a.m. on May 11th it was reported that someone stole an unsecured vehicle from a driveway located in the 1700 block of Sherwood Road between 10:00 p.m. on May 10 and 6:00 a.m. on May 11.

THEFT

Around 11:30 a.m. on May 11, it was reported that someone had entered an unsecured storage shed located in the 1400 block of Ridge Road and stole multiple tires between January 15 and May 11.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Around 7 p.m. on May 11, it was reported that someone entered an unsecured vehicle from a driveway located in the 1800 block of Cavell Avenue and took a laptop between 6:00 p.m. on May 10 and 6:30 a.m. on May 11.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Jose L. Sepulveda, 27, of the 2100 block of North Nagle Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a complaint in the 1400 block of Park Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. on May 11.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

Francisco X. Cerrato, 19, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding 40+ mph over the limit after police conducted a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road at 1:47 a.m. on May 13.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Vontez D. Williams-Straughter, 19, of the 500 block of Jeffery Avenue in Calumet City, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, speeding 21 – 25 mph over the limit, possession of cannabis and no valid driver’s license after police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Skokie Valley Road and Half Day Road around 3:30 a.m. on May 13.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Juan Bahena, 23, of the 4200 block of Greenleaf Court in Park City, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device after police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Warbler Place and Old Trail Road around 8:30 p.m. on May 13.

THEFT

Brendan P. O’Connor, 20, of the 800 block of Old Trail Road in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with theft after police responded to a complaint in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road at 1:48 a.m. on May 14.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Noe Ivan Escutia Arista, 24, of the 600 block of Washington Street in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and improper lane usage after police conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road at 4:08 a.m. on May 14.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED

Juan C. Sanchez, 27, of the 2700 block of South St. Louis Avenue in Chicago was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, no front or rear license plate and operating an uninsured motor vehicle after police conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road around 9:30 p.m. on May 14.
