Unlocked Luxury SUV Stolen; Shoplifting Duo Pilfers Bike: Blotter
Driver charged with having LSD and revoked license; DUI complaints; graffiti determined not to be gang-related: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SHOPLIFTING
Two male thieves stole a mountain bike from a business in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley around 5 p.m. on June 8, police were told. One shoplifter took the bike from a rack and out a back emergency door, while the second person loaded the stolen bike into the back of a car and drove away.
BIKE THEFT
Someone stole a green Trek bicycle with a small black bag that had been left unlocked in the first block of Ravine Drive around 10 p.m. on June 8.

CAR THEFT
Sometime between 7 p.m. June 11 and 8 a.m. June 12, someone stole an Audi SUV that had been left unlocked with the keys inside while parked in the 700 block of Marion Avenue.
CAR BURGLARIES

- Two cars left unlocked on a driveway in the 1900 block of Sunnyside Avenue were reported as being rummaged through shortly before 8 .am. on June 11. Nothing was reported missing from inside.
- Someone stole sunglasses and cash from a car parked in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue at some point prior to 8:45 a.m. on June 11.
- A car left unlocked in the 1300 block of Eastwood Avenue was found burglarized around 11:45 a.m. on June 11, with nothing reported stolen.
- Someone stole a wallet, gift cards, electronics, checks and more from inside an unlocked car parked in the 600 block of Melody Lane, police were told around 6 a.m. on June 12.
VANDALISM
- A patrolling officer reported multiple instances of graffiti around 4 a.m. on June 14. Non-gang-related messages were spray painted on public property and driveways in the 400 and 600 blocks of Central Avenue.
- Bronze spray paint was found on the sidewalk and a small light in front of a condominium complex in the 300 block of Central Avenue on the morning of June 14.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Aurora Lopez-Barranco, 34, of the 1600 block of Hickory Street, Highland Park, was arrested around 2:15 p.m. on June 9 and charged with domestic battery after a warrant was issued in connection with an April 1 incident at an unspecified location.
James Hermanson, 48, of the 5200 block of West Hutchinson Street, Chicago, was arrested shortly before midnight on June 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful possession of a controlled substance after police were called to a business in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West for unspecified reasons.
Vito D'Amore, 26, of the 400 block of Barberry Road, Highland Park, was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on June 12 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and driving with a revoked license, both felonies, and issued a unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle citation following the discovery of LSD and marijuana during a traffic stop near the intersection of Lake Cook and Ridge roads.
Elvira Holman, 31, of the 6500 block of South Francisco Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on June 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police got a complaint about a motorist near Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West. She was also issued an improper lane usage citation.
A 45-year-old Chicago woman was arrested shortly before 7 a.m. on June 13 and charged with driving without a valid license after police were called to a two-car crash near Skokie Valley Road north of Park Avenue West. She was also issued an improper lane usage citation.
Victor Manuel Rae Flores, 42, of the 4400 block of North Mango Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on June 14 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid license after officers were dispatched to a driving complaint in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road.
Marlon Gomez, 23, of the 100 block of South Park Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on June 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving without a valid license after officers got a call about a person in a car parked in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West. Gomez was also issued a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol.
