1 Dead In I-294 Crash Involving Truck, SUV

HINSDALE, IL — A man killed after a crash between an SUV and a truck late Thursday night on I-294 in Hinsdale has been identified as Matthew King, 43, of Indian Head Park. According to Illinois State Police, King was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe at a high rate of speed headed northbound at I-294 milepost 26 at 11:18 p.m., when the SUV collided into the rear of a 2002 Volvo truck tractor/semi-trailer that was also headed northbound at the time.

King was taken to an area hospital by Hinsdale Fire Department paramedics with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead a little more than an hour later at 12:33 a.m.

The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old man from Lombard, was not injured in the crash.
