1 DUI Arrest Made During Hinsdale Cops' Memorial Day Crackdown
Hinsdale police have announced the results of their holiday weekend crackdown.
HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale police were busy over the Memorial Day weekend taking part in the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. But while the focus was on drunk driving, only one DUI arrest was made during the campaign as others were charged or cited for other offenses.
Also during the campaign there were 25 speeding citations made, 26 seat belt violations, one operating an uninsured motor vehicle, four possession of cannabis, 10 illegal use of cell phone while driving, one felony arrest for a controlled substance and 10 other citations for violations to the Illinois Vehicle Code.
“These enforcement crackdowns are vital because too many people are not heeding the message
– drunk driving is deadly and illegal,” said Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie. “Alcohol not only
dangerously impairs your driving skills, it impairs your judgment. Any time you see a friend
drinking alcohol, make sure they don’t plan to drive home.”
