$11K Theft, Clinic Theft: Hinsdale Cops

An identity theft resulted in more than $11,000 in accrued phone charges, police said.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports:

Fraudulent charges

  • A resident in the 800 block of Taft Road told police Dec. 21 that someone opened a cell phone account using the victim's identity and accrued charges totaling $11,659. The crime occurred July 26.

  • An employee of Hinsdale Surgical Center, 10 Salt Creek Lane, told police that her wallet containing a driver's license, credit cards and $10 went missing during her shift, which was 7:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 20. The theft was reported two days later. No fraudulent charges were made on the credit cards.

Unauthorized charge

  • A resident in the 600 block of South Park Avenue told police Dec. 21 that someone made an unauthorized charge on her credit card Oct. 3.

Hit-and-run crash

  • The driver of a gray or silver pickup truck was involved in a traffic crash and drove away about 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at Fuller Road and Elm Street. The case is pending.

Altered check

  • Someone intercepted a check mailed from Foxford LLC, 12 Salt Creek Lane, and altered the payee information. The crime occurred between Oct. 13 and Oct. 26. It was reported Wednesday.

DUI

  • Andrius Matulis, 35, of Willowbrook, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Route 83 and Chicago Avenue on charges of DUI and improper window tinting. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Stolen decoration

  • A Christmas decoration valued at $50 was stolen from a yard about 5:30 a.m. Christmas Eve in the 500 block of North County Line Road.
